Community Foundation of Harford County Names Three New Board Members

Bel Air, MD, March 10, 2010 -- Community Foundation of Harford County named James D. Fielder, Jr., Ed Kouneski and James LaCalle to its board of directors. Each will serve a three-year term.

Dr. Fielder is regional director of business development for Clifton Gunderson LLP. He has also served as secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, deputy secretary of the Department of Business and Economic Development and director of the Office of Economic Development in Harford County. A Harford County native, he was most recently treasurer for Faith Communities and Civic Agencies United.

Mr. Kouneski, a CPA and chief financial officer for Manekin LLC, is also a Harford County native. He has worked at Manekin since 1997, where he directs accounting operations and financial management. Mr. Kouneski is active in youth hockey, currently serving as treasurer of Baltimore Area Special Hockey, Inc. Additionally, he served on the board of the Baltimore Youth Hockey Association.

Dr. LaCalle, president of Harford Community College for the past five years, has served the college for more than 35 years, primarily in the continuing education and training division. He is very active in the Harford County community, serving on numerous boards and commissions including Harford County YMCA board, Northeastern Maryland Technology Council board, APG Science and Technology board, Susquehanna Workforce Investment Board and the Harford County Economic Development Advisory Board.

"These board members bring significant leadership and expertise in community outreach, asset development and management," said Tamara W. Zavislan, the foundation's executive director. "We are fortunate to have them on our board as we work to build a strong presence in the county."

Community Foundation of Harford County (CFHC) is a nonprofit organization supported by the community through donations, enabling individuals, families and businesses to leave a legacy to benefit the causes about which they care. Charitable gifts are used to make Harford County stronger through grant-making to local nonprofits and through scholarships. CFHC is one of 14 community foundations in Maryland and one of 900 across the country.
