Community Foundation of Harford County Names Executive Director
25-Mar-2010Bel Air, MD, March 25, 2010 -- Community Foundation of Harford County has named Tamara W. Zavislan executive director.
A 15-year Harford County resident, Ms. Zavislan brings more than 25 years of nonprofit management and fundraising experience to her role with the foundation.
For the past five years, Ms. Zavislan served as director of development for the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, a national volunteer organization for older adults based in Baltimore. She has directed and managed community-based programs in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Maryland for organizations such as American Music Therapy Association, Inc., and Kardon Institute of Music for the Handicapped.
She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and serves on the Maryland Chapter’s Small Shop Fundraiser Roundtable and Program Committee.
“Being part of a new community foundation is an exciting opportunity for growth,” Ms. Zavislan said. “I look forward to working with the foundation board, community leaders, nonprofits and county residents to make a real impact in Harford County.”
Ms. Zavislan is an active volunteer in Harford County. She is a member of Harford Leadership Academy’s Class of 2010. She is also active in her parish, St. Francis de Sales Church in Abingdon, where she serves as chair of the Pastoral Council and is active in the music ministry. She is also on the steering committee for the Susquehanna Professional Association of Nonprofits.
She holds a bachelor of science degree in music therapy from Elizabethtown College and a master’s in management in business administration from Penn State University.
Community Foundation of Harford County (CFHC) is a nonprofit organization supported by the community through donations, enabling individuals, families and businesses to leave a legacy to benefit the causes about which they care. Charitable gifts are used to make Harford County stronger through grant-making to local nonprofits and through scholarships. CFHC is one of 14 community foundations in Maryland and one of 900 across the country.
